The Institute for China-America Studies will co-organize the Inaugural Symposium on Maritime Cooperation and Ocean Governance on November 5-6, 2020 with the China-Southeast Asia Research Center on the South China Sea (CSARC), the National Institute for South China Sea Studies, and the China Institute of University of Alberta.
The 2-day event is comprised of seven sessions, covering topics from practices and frontier research of ocean governance and maritime cooperation at the global and regional level, to issues concerned in the South China Sea, including latest development and prospects of maritime cooperation in the region.
The symposium will offer an opportunity for thought-provoking dialogues to pool wisdom for enhancing maritime cooperation and ocean governance in the South China Sea. It will bring together eminent scholars from influential academic institutes and officials from international organizations and government agencies in and beyond the region.

The main venue of the event will be at NISCSS in Haikou, China, and the participants who are unable to attend in person will be connected via video conferencing software.
