On Friday, June 13, 2025, three expert scholars from two Chinese universities visited ICAS for a discussion with ICAS scholars on cross-Strait relations.
The visiting scholars include Dr. Xin Qiang (Deputy Director & Professor, Center for America Studies, Fudan University), Dr. Sheng Jiuyuan (Director & Professor, Center for Taiwan Studies, Shanghai Jiao Tong University), and Dr. Xiang Chen (Assistant Professor, Shanghai Jiao Tong University).
The discussion was lead by Dr. Nong Hong (Executive Director & Senior Fellow, ICAS), who was accompanied by Mr. Sourabh Gupta (Senior Fellow & Head, Trade ‘n Technology Program, ICAS), Mr. Yilun Zhang (Research Associate & Manager, Trade ‘n Technology Program, ICAS), and Mr. Zhangchen Wang (Research Assistant, ICAS).
The discussion focused on the Taiwan Strait, including the current U.S. administration’s policy toward Taiwan, the China’s position on the issue, and Taiwan’s evolving economic and financial landscape. Participants also exchanged views on Taiwan’s industrial structure. The dialogue also included a brief but constructive discussion on the prospects of U.S.-China climate cooperation.
