ICAS Hosts GWU Summer Program Students for a Discussion on U.S.-China Relations

Hosted by ICAS

On Thursday, June 25, 2026, a group of students from a George Washington University summer program visited the ICAS office for a learning and exchange session to gain a deeper understanding of key issues in international affairs and U.S.-China relations. ICAS scholars introduced the students to a range of topics, including U.S.-China relations, the Taiwan issue, China-India relations, India-Pakistan relations, and China’s outbound trade and investment. The session was led by Senior Fellow Sourabh Gupta and Research Associate Zhangchen Wang.

The discussion was highly interactive, with students raising thoughtful questions on a variety of important international issues, including the Russia-Ukraine conflict, China’s relations with Russia and North Korea, the U.S.-Japan alliance, and the North Korean nuclear issue. ICAS scholars examined the historical background of these issues, explained the perspectives of the major stakeholders, and analyzed the strategic interests involved, encouraging students to approach these complex topics from multiple angles. ICAS hopes that this exchange will help students develop a more nuanced understanding of contemporary international relations and inspire a lasting interest in U.S.-China relations and global affairs.

This student visit is part of the Institute’s long-standing vision to foster the next generation of scholars and practitioners of U.S.-China relations through open dialogue, balanced analysis, and meaningful educational exchanges. ICAS remains committed to promoting greater understanding of U.S.-China Relations and serving as a platform for dialogue between the United States, China, and the broader global community.
