On June 10, representatives from the Institute for China-America Studies (ICAS), the Institute for China-Europe Studies (ICES), and the Huayang Institute for Research on Maritime Cooperation and Ocean Governance visited the European Policy Centre (EPC) in Brussels for an exchange of views on current geopolitical and economic developments.
The visiting delegation included Dr. Wu Shicun, Chairman of ICAS’ Advisory Board and the chairman of Huayang Institute for Research on Maritime Cooperation and Ocean Governance; Dr. Nong Hong, Executive Director and Senior Fellow of ICAS; and Yang Li, Executive Director of ICES.
Additional participants from ICAS included Sourabh Gupta, Senior Fellow, and Zhangchen Wang, Research Associate.
The delegation was received by Dr. Fabian Zuleeg, Chief Executive and Chief Economist of EPC, and Ivano Di Carlo, Senior Policy Analyst at EPC.
The discussion covered a range of issues related to European security, transatlantic relations, and international economic affairs. Participants exchanged views on European interests and strategic considerations regarding developments in the Strait of Hormuz, the outlook for U.S. domestic politics and the upcoming midterm elections, and ongoing debates surrounding export controls and economic security policies. The discussion also explored potential challenges and opportunities facing China-Europe economic relations in an evolving global environment.
