On Friday, June 13, 2025, a delegation from the Xinhua Institute (XHInst) visited with ICAS scholars to discuss a variety of topics in U.S.-China relations.
The XHInst delegation was led by Ms. Xue Ying (Deputy Director & Senior Fellow, International Department, XHInst), who was accompanied by XHInst Research Fellows Mr. Li Feihu, Mr. Liu Pinran, Mr. Liu Yang.
The discussion was led by Dr. Nong Hong (Executive Director & Senior Fellow, ICAS) and included Mr. Sourabh Gupta (Senior Fellow & Head, Trade ‘n Technology Program, ICAS), Mr. Yilun Zhang (Research Associate & Manager, Trade ‘n Technology Program, ICAS), and Mr. Zhangchen Wang (Research Assistant, ICAS).
The two sides engaged in a thoughtful exchange on the current state of U.S.-China relations, with particular attention to the status and challenges of people-to-people exchanges, the implications of the U.S.-China tariff dispute, and the difficulties and potential surrounding bilateral climate cooperation. Participants agreed that enhancing transparency, fostering grassroots dialogue, and seeking common ground could help build a constructive bilateral relationship.
