The conference is a joint collaboration between the University of Maryland, College Park and the National University of Defense Technology (NUDT), Changsha, China. The goal of the collaboration and the conference is to conduct and present research on the US-Sino relationship with the goal of improving the overall bilateral relationship. The conference participants consist of experts from think tanks, non-profits, private industry, and academia to address essential issues for US/China, to include: Defense Science and Innovation; US-China Bilateral Security Relations, Nuclear Energy Proliferation, US-China Nuclear Weapons and Security Issues; Global Cyber Security in the 21st Century; Global Sustainability, Security in the Pacific, Geo-Strategic Competition, Civil-Military Integration, and more.
ICAS research fellow Will Saetren participated on a panel to address Security in the Pacific & the Need for Escalation Control. The panel was part of a two day conference focused on the economic, political, and security relationship between China and the United States. The Conference was organized by the University of Maryland’s School of Public Policy and co-hosted by China’s National University of Defense and Technology.
