Biography

PENG Nian studied at Hong Kong Baptist University, Sichuan University and Inner Mongolia University of Science and Technology, and got PhD (International Relations, 2018), Mphil (International Relations, 2012) and Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Manufacture and Automation, 2009) respectively. His main research interests are in the areas of China-Southeast Asia and China-South Asia relations with the focus on Sino-Myanmar and Indo-Myanmar relations, as well as the maritime security of the Asia-Pacific. He is the author of the book “A Study on Indo-Myanmar Relations after the Cold-War” (Chinese version, 2017), and a number of peer-review articles as well as conference papers focusing on Myanmar issue, Indo-Myanmar relations and Sino-Myanmar relations. His recent English publication is “China’s Strategic Outreach to Myanmar in NLD Era: New Progress, but More Challenges”, China Observatory No. 23, Asia Center (Paris), Jun, 2017. He is now affiliated with National Institute for the South China Sea Studies.
